Whales and Glaciers full-day excursion

This is the longest day in our catalogue and also the one that reaches furthest. We set off at four in the morning to sail for around ten hours through the southern end of the Strait of Magellan, to one of the most remote corners of Patagonia.
From the office we drive you to Bahía Carrera, 50 kilometres south of Punta Arenas, where we board. Sunrise finds us sailing off Tierra del Fuego. Shortly after we round Cape Froward, the southernmost point of the American continent, crowned by the Cross of the Seas.
The heart of the day is the Francisco Coloane Marine Park, where humpback whales feed through the austral summer. Its waters are also home to sei whales, Peale’s dolphins, Commerson’s dolphins, Magellanic penguins, cormorants, skuas, petrels, albatrosses, sea lions and elephant seals, and occasionally pods of orcas. The trip also takes in the glaciers of Santa Inés Island: the Helado Glacier and the Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa Glacier.
We return to Punta Arenas at around six in the evening. We recommend warm, waterproof clothing, comfortable shoes, a hat and gloves.
