Australis Cruises is nominated in the World Cruise Awards
We're honored to share that Australis has been nominated once again in the World Cruise Awards. 💙
The Rock Art Archaeological Circuit runs along the slopes of Cerro Benítez, half an hour from Puerto Natales, across ground dotted with small caves and rock shelters. Several of them still hold paintings left by the people who lived here long before us, and others stand out for their unusual formations.
The circuit covers 6.4 kilometres through native forest, rock and steppe. It is not a walk to rush: the guide tells the story of the human occupation of the area and its biodiversity, and the pace adjusts to whatever each group wants to stop and look at.
The climb ends at the summit of Cerro Benítez, with an open view over Laguna Sofía and the mountains around it. It is also a good place to see condors: the area is part of their regular flight range and they often appear gliding over the hill.
