Eight days around the Paine massif, with campsites, meals and transfers booked for you

The O Circuit is the full loop around the Paine massif: eight days and around 123 kilometres through the side of the park almost nobody sees, including the John Garner Pass at 1,200 metres, with the Southern Ice Field spread out ahead.
THIS PROGRAMME IS SELF-GUIDED. You walk on your own, with no guide and no porter. What we provide is the logistics, fully resolved: campsites booked night by night, meals contracted, park entrance, catamaran ticket and transfers both ways. That is precisely the hard part of the circuit, because places sell out months in advance. You can start on any day of the season, provided the campsites have space: the earlier you book, the more choice of dates you will have.
Before you set off you will have an in-person briefing in Puerto Natales with a specialised coordinator. It covers the day-by-day itinerary, the difficulty of each section, timings and transport logistics, along with clothing and equipment recommendations, park rules and emergency contacts. At the end of the briefing you receive your full documentation, the vouchers for each service, your box lunch for day one and a welcome kit.
Days range from 11 to 21 kilometres. Day 4, over the John Garner Pass, is the most demanding: 18 kilometres taking 10 to 12 hours. Day 8 climbs to the Base of the Towers and returns to Puerto Natales.
Accommodation is camping. The tent is pitched on arrival and includes a sleeping bag, a high-density foam mat and a pillow. At some campsites the tent sits on a raised platform.
RESTRICTIONS: not recommended for children under 14. You must be able to carry your own belongings for the full eight days; we recommend a 40-litre backpack. If you have dietary restrictions, tell us when booking: regular and vegetarian menus are available, and the gluten-free option is offered only with the box lunch. Restrictions can only be honoured if reported in advance.
All days are subject to weather conditions. Please note that National Park entrance tickets are non-refundable under any circumstances, even if the booking is cancelled well in advance.

Day 1 — Park entry and hike to Serón. 15 km, 4 to 5 hours. Medium difficulty.
Day 2 — Serón to Dickson. 19 km, 6 to 7 hours. Medium difficulty.
Day 3 — Dickson to Los Perros. 12 km, around 5 hours. High difficulty.
Day 4 — Los Perros to Grey, via the John Garner Pass. 18 km, 10 to 12 hours. Demanding.
Day 5 — Grey to Paine Grande. 11 km, 4 to 4.5 hours. Medium difficulty.
Day 6 — French Valley. 15 or 18 km depending on the campsite, 7 to 8 hours. High difficulty.
Day 7 — On to the Central sector. 12.5 or 16 km depending on the starting point, 4 to 6 hours. Medium difficulty.
Day 8 — Base of the Towers and return to Puerto Natales. 21 km, 8 to 10 hours. Demanding.

Itinerary

Day 1

An early departure for Torres del Paine National Park, crossing the Patagonian pampa to the Laguna Amarga entrance, where you register with CONAF. A shuttle takes you to the Visitor Center and the trail to Serón begins. This is one of the gentlest days of the circuit, through forest and open grassland in the least visited part of the park. 15 km, 4 to 5 hours. Serón campsite. Box lunch and dinner.

Day 3

The most remote part of the circuit, through ancient forest and dense vegetation, with Magellanic woodpeckers. Following the Los Perros river you climb a large moraine to the Los Perros glacier and its blue-green lagoon. A short day, designed for resting before the one that follows. 12 km, 5 hours. Los Perros campsite. Breakfast, box lunch and dinner.

Day 4

The most demanding day of the circuit and also the most memorable. You cross forest over roots and mud, then climb loose rock, sometimes with snow, to the John Garner Pass at 1,200 metres, facing the Southern Ice Field. The descent runs alongside a wall of ice, passes El Paso campsite with its ranger post, and crosses the hanging bridges before reaching Grey. 18 km, 10 to 12 hours. Grey campsite. Breakfast, box lunch and dinner.

Day 5

Views of the Southern Ice Field and the icebergs of Lake Grey. You climb through mountain forest to the Grey Glacier viewpoint, continue to Los Patos lagoon and descend through a narrow, windy valley to Paine Grande. 11 km, 4 to 4.5 hours. Paine Grande campsite. Breakfast, box lunch and dinner.

Day 6

A full day into the heart of the park. You follow the shore of Lake Skottsberg to Italiano campsite and from there climb into the valley. On the French plateau Los Cuernos appear, along with glacial lagoons and the hanging glaciers of Paine Grande, at 3,050 metres, where avalanches are often heard. You return along the same path to Italiano and continue to Francés or Los Cuernos. 15 or 18 km depending on the campsite, 7 to 8 hours. Cuernos or Francés campsite. Breakfast, box lunch and dinner.

Day 7

A walk among streams, with the hanging glaciers of Mount Almirante Nieto at 2,670 metres and the chance of spotting condors, following the blue-green waters of Lake Nordenskjöld to the Central sector. 12.5 or 16 km depending on the starting point, 4 to 6 hours. Central campsite. Breakfast, box lunch and dinner.

Day 8

The final day climbs the Ascencio valley and ends with a crossing of boulder fields to the Base of the Towers viewpoint at 900 metres, facing the three granite walls and the glacial lake. You return along the same path to the Central sector and the Visitor Center, take the shuttle to Laguna Amarga and the coach back to Puerto Natales. 21 km, 8 to 10 hours. Breakfast and box lunch.

Day 2

A long day over rolling hills and wetlands in the northern sector, with views of the Dickson Glacier, Cerro Cubo and the peaks that form the border with Argentina. In the afternoon there is time to walk the rocky shore of Lake Dickson. 19 km, 6 to 7 hours. Dickson campsite. Breakfast, box lunch and dinner.
